History

“The Pines” was built by the owner of a wood working company during the art nouveau era. He would bring workers to the house for Christmas parties.

In the 1960’s Jack & Alice purchased the home and raised three sons, John, Graeme and Bob. Jack & Alice ran the corner store (which is now the bottle shop) into their 80’s.

When Jack passed away, Michael Pool noticed an old chair sitting outside. He asked Alice “who owns this old chair?”. “That was Jack’s” she replied. Michael took the old chair, had it restored and Jack’s name carved in it as a gift for Alice.

Sadly, the very day Michael delivered the chair to Alice, she passed away.

Michael then discovered a similar, but smaller old chair inside the house and assumed it belonged to Alice. He had it restored and Alice’s name carved in the back.

Michael and Teresa Pool purchased “The Pines” in 2006.
